Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster attend King Charles foundation event for time capsule ceremony
Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, attended a special event hosted by the King Charles Foundation, marking the 35th anniversary of the organization.
The event took place on January 15 at Dumfries House in Scotland, where the first items were placed into a time capsule.
The 80-year-old singer and his 53-year-old wife joined King Charles for the ceremony, where a pair of garden scissors was among the first items to be added.
Before sealing the scissors into the capsule, Charles made a playful gesture by pointing them at Stewart, who humorously exaggerated his reaction, causing both of them to burst into laughter.
As the ceremony continued, Stewart smiled while the monarch placed a letter into the capsule, joking with the audience made up of ambassadors, community representatives, students, and alumni: “I’m going to bury it at the bottom,” he quipped.
Other symbolic items included in the capsule were a local newspaper, photos, flowers from the Dumfries House garden, and some marmalade, as reported by PA Media UK.
According to the King’s Foundation, the items collected throughout this year will reflect the organization’s legacy and achievements.
The foundation's website explains, “The items will primarily focus on the inspirations of those who have dedicated their time to preserving both the built and natural environment.
Once gathered, the capsule will be buried on the Dumfries House estate and will be opened in 100 years.”
This initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable communities and preserving nature.
Educational programs run by the foundation, such as those at Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire, teach traditional crafts like embroidery and woodworking, ensuring these skills are passed down to future generations.
