Tech billionaires attend Trump’s inauguration
The well-known, sometimes controversial relationship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, owner of platform X, is widely recognized.
However, Musk wasn’t the only major tech figure to attend the president’s inauguration on Monday.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, was also present at the event. Recently, Zuckerberg announced that the company would eliminate fact-checkers and significantly reduce censorship on its platforms—a decision that sparked reactions in political and media circles.
Another notable attendee was Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok. His presence drew attention, particularly as the app is resuming operations in the U.S. following Trump’s executive order granting an extension before the platform faces a potential ban.
Trump, who had previously supported blocking TikTok over national security concerns, changed his stance on Sunday, stating he would delay the measure to allow more time for a potential agreement.
The presence of these influential tech leaders at Trump’s inauguration highlights the digital sector’s crucial role in the new administration’s political and economic landscape, raising questions about future regulations and policies for digital platforms in the U.S.
